Get to Know Laura
My name is Laura Bertrand and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) ’. I am an eclectic counselor, who often weaves cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and dialectical behavior therapy, using a person-centered approach. What this looks like is the ability to manage life’s stressors with compassion and strength-based skills to help achieve one’s goals. Are you struggling to make changes, hard on yourself, feeling uninspired, lack purpose or direction, experiencing low energy, or have rigid thinking? We will develop your personal goals and continuously work collaboratively through exploring your personal experience. My goal for you is that you take the skills and therapeutic relationship out of the office and into your world. The skills taught will strengthen the aspects in your life that cause stress because they have been ignored. We will honor all of your experiences and feelings, and encourage gratitude for this life we have been given. I believe therapy is a journey, and we create a safe place to explore beliefs, feelings, and experiences. I am a certified yoga teacher and qualified to teach MBSR (currently awaiting certification). I am also in process of receiving an advanced certification in traumatic stress. I value mind body practices such as meditation, breathwork, yoga, writing, poetry, art, whatever there is a calling for and you are open to try.
